District Plan

Maps

The District Plan maps and appendices illustrate what restrictions apply to a particular property or area. The maps can give you a good understanding of what restrictions may apply to your property. The maps must be used in conjunction with the District Plan Text (objectives, policies and rules) and at all times are subject to change. Please see Modifications for details of those maps which are affected by modifications.

The District Plan comprises two maps for each part of the city. You can view a zone map or a designations and special provisions map depending on what information you require. The zone maps show the various zones in the city which determine how land can be used. The designations and special provisions maps show the location of designated public works and network utilities and indicate special controls applying to trees, houses and the coast for example.

Click on or on the index map of the city below to view either the zone or designation and special provisions map for that part of the city. A legend explaining the various zones and notations that appear on the plan maps will pop up automatically in a separate window. You will need to enlarge the window to view the legend clearly.
