Our council is currently
made up of the Mayor and 15 councillors.
North Shore City Council is chosen, along with all other local
authority politicians in New Zealand, in elections held every three years
on the second Saturday in October - an election was held on
Saturday, 9 October 2004.
Electors were able to vote
for the Mayor, City Councillors, Community Board Members, Regional
Councillors, for members of the
District Health Board and Liquor Licensing Trusts. The
Mayor of North Shore City is elected on a "city-wide" basis.
The Councillors are elected by wards – of which there are three in the
city
– Northern, Central and Harbour.
The Community Board
Members are elected from each of the following communities of interest -
Albany, Birkenhead, Northcote, Devonport, East Coast Bays, Glenfield and
Takapuna.
