A new direction for stormwater management

A new direction for stormwater management

We’re reviewing the way we manage stormwater in our city, to meet your demands for a better environment in which to live.

Our aim is to reduce the risk of flooding of properties and the effects of stormwater and stormwater-borne contaminants on the city’s streams and coastal environment.

It’s also part of the process to obtain a resource consent to operate, maintain, and upgrade our stormwater network, which we have dubbed The Kokopu Connection.

We are committed to protecting our special North Shore environment, and involving our community in deciding how we do that.

You have already told us what you want for the city during previous public consultation. We will continue to listen to what you have to say as we implement our plans to achieve our goals.

A number of strategies and policies which will direct the way in which we manage stormwater were drafted in 2004 and posted on this website in March 2005 for comment. These strategies and policies form the basis for proposed changes to the District Plan which were notified on 12 April 2007.

A brief summary of each of these is provided below.
