"Share with care" paths A "share with care path" is an off-road path for cyclists and pedestrians. The path is divided by a white line down the middle, with the kerb side marked for cyclists and the property boundary side marked for pedestrians. These shared paths allow cyclists who do not feel confident sharing the road with cars and buses – especially school children – the option to go off-road. The council is introducing them to encourage more people to cycle and walk as part of our focus on sustainable transport. When using a "share with care path", cyclists and pedestrians need to take extra care. Cyclists should ring their bell or call out when approaching a pedestrian. Residents living on roads with these paths need to be extremely careful when leaving and entering driveways. Please drive forwards out of your driveway if you can, and toot your horn to alert cyclists and pedestrians. |
