Waste Minimisation

Waste Minimisation plan

North Shore City is a leader in waste minimisation and we continue to improve the range and quality of our services as we plan for a less wasteful future. We were the first to introduce kerbside recycling and also offer mobile hazardous household waste collections and discounts on commercial garden waste collections.

We cover these and other initiatives in our Waste Minimisation Plan, which was developed in 2005. The national New Zealand Waste Strategy requires local councils to have a waste plan.

North Shore City Council's plan sets a responsible waste minimisation course for the future, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero waste to landfill.
