If you want to use a park or civic area for an event you need North Shore City Council approval. Events are processed and approved or declined depending on the possible effects the type of activity would have on the surrounding environments. All approved events must meet provisions of the:

  • Resource Management Act (1991)
  • Transport Act (1962)
  • Dog Control Act (1982)
  • District Plan
  • North Shore City Consolidated Bylaws (1990)
  • Reserves Act (1977)
  • Management Plan for the park or beach.

Events must meet the specified requirements in order to be approved. The relevant community board may need to approve an event. Events may also incur a bond fee, to cover any damages that occur to the land or facilities. Filming events must also apply as large film crews and equipment can have a huge effect on an area. However, only major filming events need community board approval.
