Civil Defence at work

Emergencies won't wait until you finish work

A major emergency won't necessarily wait until you finish work for the day. You should know what to do at home and work before you have to do it. Is your workplace prepared?

North Shore City Civil Defence can provide businesses with free publications that help people in the workplace identify, assess, prepare and plan for an emergency. These are:

  • Hazard Assessment for Businesses 1

  • Planning and Preparedness for Businesses 2

  • Emergency Management Audit for Businesses 3.

Contact North Shore City Civil Defence to obtain copies of these publications and ensure your workplace in prepared. At the very least, all staff should:

  • know where the assembly area is for your building

  • know where the nearest state primary school is (this is the emergency reporting centre in the event that you have to leave the area surrounding your workplace)

  • attend a first aid course.
