North Shore City Civil Defence Headquarters has one of the most advanced computerised headquarters operations system in New Zealand and is the home base for a North Shore company Resource Management Databases (RMD) who have created systems especially for the different facets of managing emergencies. Their systems are now well established throughout the country and their special computer software programs cover several important aspects of Civil Defence management: Response A unique CD Headquarters computer network system consisting of several linked databases in one package which also includes special features such as GIS mapping and Laptop facilities for mobile operations. Reg-Evac An economical and portable system for registering evacuees from emergencies, monitoring their situations and re-uniting them even from different locations using a computerised system. Trans-Evac A special portable system for managing the problems of survivors and relatives or families involved in transportation (Land, Sea and Air) disasters. Team-Tracker An essential system for tracking all the personnel involved in the 'front-line' of emergencies. It records their details, current location, physical condition, means of contact and other data to assist in their operational safety and management. The RMD company's experience, continual research for new or better ideas, combined with modern technology, is providing better management tools not only in North Shore City but also to many other locations.
