About North Shore Civil Defence
North Shore City Civil Defence brings together the extra resources to help these services cope. Police, fire, ambulance services and the council may not be able to manage a disaster on their own. We help the injured, relieve personal suffering and help prevent loss of life. The hazards facing North Shore City are complex. As well as natural hazards such as earthquakes, fire, floods and volcanic eruptions, there are other hazards with the potential for major disruption. These include events like chemical spills, power failures and interruptions to essential services such as water. By identifying and managing the hazards in our communities through a risk management approach, and anticipating and preparing for events before they happen, we can reduce the effects on our communities and our daily lives. Working in partnership with volunteers and partners North Shore City Civil Defence works in partnership with:
We ensure that the proper systems are in place in North Shore City to make us more resilient to disaster. There is no vast full-time Civil Defence force standing by, so volunteers are critical. |
