North Shore Civil Defence

Could you survive on your own for three days?

A disaster could happen at any time, even in North Shore City. Your home or business could be seriously damaged as a result of a disaster and you could be on your own for up to three days, maybe more.

Make sure you know what to do

We can't prevent disasters, but we can take some simple steps to ensure we can cope in emergencies. Disasters can happen quickly and without compassion. Did you know there's a one in 20 chance that a volcanic eruption will occur in Auckland in the next 50 years? Make sure you know what to do before you have to do it.

The City is Prepared

North Shore City is required by law to prepare a local plan outlining its plans and procedures for an emergency. It has prepared what is known as the Civil Defence Emergency Management Local Plan, which has in turn been incorporated into an Auckland Regional plan.

The City CD Emergency Plan is a public document and is reproduced here for public information. The Civil Defence Plan is all about saving lives, minimising injury, and protecting property and is important to us all.

It works best for us all if we understand the risks, and know in advance what plans are in place to managed serious situations when they occur.
