Albany Highway

We are planning to upgrade Albany Highway, from Schnapper Rock Rd to State Highway 17 in Albany Village. The upgrade is proposed to go ahead in two stages:

• Stage 1: An interim upgrade to widen the road and improve intersection layouts, including new cycle lanes and footpaths;

The first stage of the upgrade has been planned with regard to the road layout envisaged for the second stage, to ensure minimal work will need to be re-done when the second stage goes ahead.

These pages contain details of the proposals for both stages, including cross sections of proposed road layouts and information about cycle lanes, footpaths and medians.

It is also an opportunity to give us your feedback.

Background

The area served by Albany Highway is one of the fastest-growing parts of our city.

This future growth will put increasing pressure on Albany Highway, especially as there is a shortage of alternative routes in the area for people using all modes of transport.

With increasing numbers of school children travelling in this area, and plans for a new school, we especially need to ensure young people can walk, cycle, or go by bus to school safely.
