Draft Library Strategy

The Draft Library strategy guides the future provision of library services in North Shore City.

Libraries are key community facilities that provide a focal point for the local community. NSCC recognises that public libraries are highly valued community facilities and that they play an important role in contributing to the four well-beings of its community.

They provide a range services including supporting reading, providing access to information and providing a focal point of the community.

A number of challenges and opportunities face North Shore City regarding the future provision of libraries and to this end, the Library Strategy provides the overarching framework and vision for library services in the city.

The strategy aims to:

    1. Provide a strategic framework for the provision and management of libraries in the city.
    2. Establish a clear sense of direction and provide a focus for resource allocation that reflects the needs and aspirations of the local community.
    3. Identify the linkages and actions between plans and strategies (both within and outside the council)  to promote better quality library services in the city.
    4. Encourage continuing community and stakeholder involvement and partnership in the development of libraries.

The draft strategy can be viewed at your local Library, Area Office, or by downloading from this page.

Copies can also be obtained from the North Shore City Council.

Interested persons and organisations are invited to lodge written comments on the draft plan.  The closing date for submissions is 5.00 pm on Friday 1st August 2008.
