July 2008 update
The in2it team has been working hard to keep fun and enjoyable activities rolling out to youth throughout the North Shore despite the cold wet winter weather. We’ve made a strong focus to use as many indoor facilities as possible for our winter activities.
Although the first week of June we were all lucky enough to get some sunshine for our first ever High Ropes Day held at Birkenhead Leisure Centre. The day was free and open to all members of the family to test there courage and confidence on the awesome high ropes challenge course. The ZM black thunders were on site giving away spot prizes and pumping out some tunes. Through out the day approximately 150 dare devils harnessed up and took the course on.
Over the past couple of weeks in2it worked in collaboration with Xpress Academy of Dance and run some free community hip hop classes. These classes were instructed by members of Prestige, who are New Zealand’s leading hip hop group that are currently fundraising to allow the group to travel to the US to compete in the World Championships where they finished second in 2006.
In2it also linked in the with North Shore YMCA ‘Raise Up N Represent’ program to run Paradox '08 – a music fest competition for singers, dancers, and bands. The event was held at Activzone and 12 finalists competed on the night in front of 250 person strong crowd.
Our very own portable skate ramps and grinder boxes have proven to be very popular with an average of 80 skaters tearing up the ramps up every Friday night at Activzone. Youth can ride the ramps from 6pm to 10pm for $3 every Friday through winter.
As you can see in2it is keeping active through these winter months and we’ve got heaps more planned, such as dodge ball, badminton, 8 week circus workshop, and a indoor inflatable water slide frenzy just to name a few. For more information please log on to our website: www.in2it.org.nz and register to receive the in2it newsletter with all event information.
Thanks,
In2it Team.
