Possible discoloured drinking water

North Shore homes and businesses in the suburbs outlined below may receive discoloured drinking water between Tuesday October 10 and Friday October 13, due to the relocation of a water main.

All water will remain safe to drink and will comply with the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand.

The work is necessary to enable continued construction of the Northern Busway.

A Watercare main at the Northcote Rd overbridge will be relocated, with its water supply switched to a parallel pipe. This will temporarily boost water velocity, which may cause discolouration of the water supply.

Homes and businesses within the following areas may be affected:

  • Castor Bay
  • Forrest Hill (south of Grenada Ave)
  • Hillcrest (east of Hillcrest Ave)
  • Barry’s Pt area
  • Wairau Valley (south of Diana Dr)
  • Northcote (east of Tonar St)
  • Milford
  • All suburbs south from Takapuna to Devonport

Watercare Services Ltd and North Shore City Council are taking all steps possible to minimise the possibility of discoloured water occurring.

Residents in the above areas can help during this period by reducing their water usage.

We appreciate your cooperation, and regret any inconvenience caused over this period.
