The new Beach Haven main trunk sewer is now operational following the completion of the 40m Kahika Stream pipe bridge and connections to the existing sewer network.

The old pipe bridge has been demolished, and all that remains to complete stage two of this $580,000 upgrade is some minor road works long Beach Haven Road, the recontouring of land to the west of the pipe bridge, the removal of a temporary retaining wall and bark mulching the site. A walking track will be completed and the area replanted with about 1,800 native plants next year.

This work is part of Project CARE, the council’s 20-year programme to improve stream and beach water quality.
