Proposed funding boost for new wastewater projects

Large investment in wastewater capital projects is a feature of this year’s draft Annual Plan. Almost $45m is earmarked for new wastewater projects (including $31.4m on the treatment plant and outfall).

As part of the Project CARE programme, we have brought forward some work, including a major upgrade of wastewater infrastructure in Birkdale. A further $7.5m is proposed for new stormwater projects and $3.6m for new water supply projects.

Council’s hearings committee will meet in May to consider submissions, which closed last week. Any changes will be reflected in the final, approved plan which will be adopted on June 29.
