Lotus walk closed

A reminder to residents that Lotus Walk, from Manly Esplanade in Browns Bay to Sharon Rd in Torbay, will remain closed for much of this year while work on the $5m Torbay wastewater upgrade continues.

An alternative walking route via Clifton Rd and Canaan Way is available and signposted.

The installation of a temporary diversion pipe from Waiake Reserve over the ridge and along Beach Rd, Sharon Rd and Lotus Walk is nearing completion, enabling wastewater flows to be diverted while work within the 750-metre tunnel between Browns Bay and Waiake Beach is carried out.

At Waiake Reserve a temporary pump station and a tunnel entry pit have been constructed.

The project replaces an existing 40-year-old sewer, which is corroded and running at capacity, with a larger pipe.
