Treatment plant’s odour-busting initiatives get thumbs up
|
An independent bi-annual survey carried out in March, shows that fewer people are affected by odours from the plant and more believe the Rosedale area is less smelly. In fact, the number of people who said they were affected by odours has fallen to a record low, 19 per cent down from 39 per cent in 2004 and 70 per cent in 1999. The bi-annual door-to-door survey is carried out as a condition of one of the treatment plant’s many resource consents with the Auckland Regional Council. Other consent requirements to measure the effectiveness of odour control at the plant include a fortnightly walkover by an independent ‘trained nose’ and annual air sample testing.
