The section of the new wastewater main between the Margery and Alma pumping stations running underneath Wairau Creek has been completed.

This involved damming Wairau Creek, excavating the trench, installing the pipe and concreting it all into place. Access chambers at various points along the pipeline will be finished shortly and in mid-April will be followed by the installation of bends and fittings.

Protection work for a pipe across Seaview Rd starts late next month or early May.

When all this is completed, works will begin at the Alma Pumping Station. This will involve installing a new inlet chamber and connecting the new main to the pumping station. Part of Project Care, this project increases the wastewater system’s ability to cope better during heavy rain and will help keep Milford’s marina and beach clean.
