Outfall ‘bubbles’ under investigation

Our engineering staff are investigating a minor air leak in our effluent outfall, which is sending streams of bubbles to the surface just offshore from J.F. Kennedy Memorial Park in Castor Bay.

Remote controlled cameras are being used to help identify the source of the problem. Investigation work will continue in the area over the next few weeks.

Once completed, remedial work will be planned and carried out. Our regular testing programme at the site shows that water quality remains within the national health safety guidelines.

The outfall carries high quality, treated effluent from our Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant. Above: Dayne Goodwin and Tui Timoto search for the bubble source.
