WasteWise Schools is an Education for Sustainability programme that assists schools to reduce their waste and in turn, their ecological footprint. New Zealand is considered one of the top 10 waste offenders in the world!
The Regional WasteWise Schools programme engages students in best waste reduction practices that they can transfer into their home and everyday life. It supports students to make informed decisions and to educate others to act sustainably.
This programme can be integrated into all aspects of the New Zealand curriculum. It adopts a whole of school approach and is designed to complement the Enviroschools programme.
North Shore schools that are currently in the Regional WasteWise programme are Campbells Bay, Glenfield Intermediate, Murrays Bay Intermediate, Manuka and Forrest Hill schools.
