North Shore City provides a range of payment methods to suit the convenience of ratepayers.
Pay online by credit card
You can pay your rates online by credit card. The credit cards accepted for this transaction are Visa and MasterCard. Remember to pay your rates before the instalment due date to ensure North Shore City receives your payment on time.
Other payment methods
You can pay by any of the following ways:
- Credit Card
- Direct Debiting
- Automatic Payment (AP)
- Telephone Banking
- Internet Payment Systems
- Mail In person by cash, cheque or EFTPOS
- Instalments
Pay in full
You can pay your rates in full at any time.
GST will apply at the current rate of 12.5% to rates payable on invoices issued before 1 October 2010 and to any voluntary prepayments made prior to 1 October 2010. GST at 15% will apply to invoices issued after 30 September 2010. The amounts payable on instalment reflect the appropriate GST rate.
Advantages of paying in full
- If you pay the full amount of your rates on the third instalment date you need not make any payment until the third instalment is due.
- Rates penalties incurred on the first and second instalments are automatically remitted.
- You will get no more rates bills this year.
Paying by instalment
Rates are payable in equal instalments spread over approximately eight months. You will receive six rates bills, each one due approximately one month after you receive the bill.
In 2010 / 2011, regular instalments are due by 5pm on the following dates:
- 17 August 2010
- 5 October 2010
- 23 November 2010
- 18 January 2011
- 15 March 2011
- 10 May 2011
Note: If you are paying by instalment, allow enough time for the payment to reach us by the due date. If your payment is late, a 10 per cent penalty will be added. Another 10 per cent penalty will be added to overdue amounts still unpaid by 8 January and 8 July 2010.
Direct Debiting
This is an easy way to pay your rates if you have a bank account.
The advantages are:
- The amount of the instalment will be transferred from your bank account on the 20th of each month or the last day for payment.
- You will receive a rates notice for each instalment.
- You do not have to remember the penalty date.
- Unlike automatic payments, there is no need to change your direct debit each year or in event of a variation in the amount to be paid.
Water charges may be paid in one amount on the due date.
Should you choose this option, please fill in the direct debit authority form (see link below). Complete all the shaded boxes on the form and return it to us so that we can process the authority and advise your bank. You may wish to use the freepost reusable envelope that contained your rates notice. Please do not use the envelope for other purposes as they are sorted by NZ Post separately from other council correspondence.
Allow 10 days for processing the direct debit.
Your direct debit authority form should be posted to:
