North Shore City is embarking on a long-term programme to enhance streams and creeks in parks and backyards. Natural streams are a better and cheaper way of managing stormwater (rain run-off) — they also improve the look and feel of our neighbourhoods.
Streams are a vital part of North Shore’s ecosystem. If we look after them, they will return the favour. Restoring streams is good for the stream and things that live in it, as well as being good for people who use the beaches where streams flow. Natural streams have well planted stream edges that make the area stable and provide a good place (habitat) for stream wildlife to live.
