Weed Control
North Shore City Council uses hot water spraying as its main method of weed control on the city's roadsides.
In some areas, targeted chemical spraying is used where hot water is not adequate.
A trial has recently been completed in the Devonport area using hot foam.
However its effectiveness was found to be no better than hot water. As a result, hot water spraying in the city will continue to be the main method of controlling weeds.
The council keeps a 'No Spray Register', which contains the addresses of people who do not wish to have chemical weed spray used on their property frontage.
If you wish to add your name and property to the register, please complete our online form via the 'No Spray Register' link under the Do It Online panel on the right. Alternatively you can contact Actionline, phone (09) 486 8600 or email actionline@northshorecity.govt.nz, to have a form sent out to you.
In terms of the Privacy Act 1993, all personal information provided for inclusion in the No Spray Register will be used only for the purpose for which it was given to Council and will not be made publicly available.
You can find out more about the council's weed control policy, and also join the No Spray Register, on the right hand side of this page.
