How Do I Apply For A Building Consent

Building consent applications can be submitted in one of the following ways:

1. If you are submitting your application in person, it is advisable to have your architect, builder or other consultant attend the lodgement meeting or have them contactable at this time. You will need to book the lodgement meeting in advance by contacting the council on 09 486 8600 and ask for a lodgement booking. Depending on the complexity of the building consent application, the lodgement meeting could take up to two hours.
   
2. We also accept building consent applications by post, provided that all the required information and documentation have been provided with the application, as well as payment for the lodgement base fee. 
   
3. You can also submit your building consent application online however; you must register to use this service.  This method allows you to complete and forward your application electronically together with digital plans and specifications.
