North Shore City Council recognises the importance of preserving and enhancing our environment. We have our own pollution prevention team that respond to pollution incidents in the city 24 hours, 7 days a week and also develops environmental education programmes specific to North Shore City.
When our pollution prevention team finds a problem it will work to stop the discharge immediately, ensure the pollutants are cleaned up, advise what to do to prevent the problem from recurring, and educate about prevention pollution.
If necessary, the team can fine or prosecute people so that the city’s ratepayers do not bear the costs of someone else’s negligence.
Our team works closely with the Auckland Regional Council urban pollution prevention and response teams to promote better environmental practices in North Shore City. Our aim is to ensure that activities undertaken by our community do not harm our city’s environment.
If you would like to report a pollution incident, you can contact Actionline, phone (09) 486 8600, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Remember! Outside drains only drain rain.
