YMCA Raise Up 'N Represent is a great programme for young people 13 to 18 years old. It was developed at the YMCA specifically for teens and has proven to be very popular, whether the participant wants the challenge of being a leader or is just happy hanging out.
Youthtown recently opened its North Shore branch located next to the North Shore Events Centre in Wairau Valley. The centre is designed to provide young people, aged 7 and 18, with opportunities for fun physical, social and creative experiences, and an exciting hub at which local kids and teenagers can hang out. The organisation runs a number of events and activities, from school holiday and after-school programmes, to arts, adventure opportunities, camps and sports.
YouthWorx is a network for the North Shore youth sector, which seeks to help and connect the people, organisations and services that work with North Shore youth. By providing these connections, Youthworx helps to resource youth service providers with information, ideas, discussion, and encourages collaboration on projects and events.
PHAB is an organisation that 'walks the talk' by being inclusive, and promoting and supporting self reliance that enhances the social opportunities for people both disabled and non disabled. PHAB has 16 clubs that meet weekly, throughout greater Auckland, a fabulous Youth Space in Takapuna, an annual ball, holiday programmes, workshops, study scholarships and a staff team of both disabled and non disabled PHAB members.
Bays Youth Community Trust exists to work in the East Coast Bays, North Shore of Au ckland focusing on positive early intervention and support for 11-18 year old youth. Their youth workers work in local schools supporting and mentoring students.
