Water Polo - Glenfield Leisure Centre
Water Polo is considered to be one of the fastest, most skilled and exhilarating of all team sports. Water polo is an excellent way to learn teamwork and team tactics.

Year five and six students are invited to start their water polo career on Thursday, February 21, 2008..
They will learn the basics - swimming, passing, shooting, defending and the fundamental rules of the sport in a coached game situation (Games for understanding approach).
At this level the emphasis is on fun and the basic development of individuals and teams where they can compete with and against other local primary school pupils. We supply all equipment and experienced coaches.
General information
- The programme will run Thursday evening between the hours of 4.00pm to 4.30pm
- The cost will be $30 per player per term
- There will be maximum of 25 players per session
- The pool is four metres deep so all participating students should be able swimmers
- A small ball will be used during the games (Flippa ball size)
- Sessions run for 30-minutes and teams are expected to be mixed.
- The first term will consist of nine sessions. Students will turn up and ‘train’ for 30-minutes to gain an understanding of water polo.
- Enrolments can be made at the Glenfield Leisure Centre reception at the beginning of each term.
Glenfield Leisure Centre reserves the right to amend charges at any stage.
Year seven and eight intermediate students play for their school teams. Training will start Monday, February 18, 2008.
Each school registered in our programme has a designated training slot of 40-minutes each week.
They will develop their swimming, passing, shooting, defending skills, learn team work and team tactics and the teams compete in our local Intermediate Competition.
Competition games for year seven are either on a Tuesday afternoon between 4 and 5pm or Wednesday evening between 4pm and 7pm.
The games have four five-minute quarters with a two-minute rest between quarters and they are played every 30-minutes.
Competition games for year seven will start on approx week four or five of term one.
Competition games for year eight will start on approx week four or five of term one and are played on a Tuesday, between 4pm and 9 pm
Training for term two, three and four will commence on week one and competition games on week two
General information

From Monday, February 18 until Friday, March 2, year seven students
interested in playing Water Polo will (for the first two weeks of the
programme in term one) pay a pool entry fee of $6. -
This will allow the schools time to have trials and allow form one
students time to settle into their new school environment. The cost for
year 7 Water Polo is $65.00.00. Students will be required to pay $53.00 from
March 3 2007 for the remainder of the term. -
The cost for intermediate Water Polo is $65. This includes training and
games. -
For year eight players, students are required to register and pay their term fees $65.00 at Reception, on or prior to their first training.

Glenfield Leisure Centre reserves the right to amend charges at any
stage.
Glenfield Leisure Centre (GLC) provides Swim for Polo squad training every weekday from 7am to 7.50am.
Our coaches teach swimming skills specific to Water Polo and combine short sprints with long distance swimming in a squad environment. This improves player fitness and versatility and ultimately makes better players.
Enrolments and payment can be made at GLC reception. All player/teams are encouraged to swim at least two to three times a week and representative teams two to five times each week.
The cost is $65 per student per term with players attending this squad as many times as they wish a week, or by paying $3 per visit
