PADI Open Water Dive course
Cost: $499
Courses run regulary. Please contact us for schedules.
The PADI Open Water course is the beginner course and all you need in order to dive as a qualified diver. The PADI course is the most popular diver program in the world, usually taking between four and five days. This is your ticket to a lifetime of exciting underwater exploration. Virtually anyone can learn to SCUBA dive, from age 10 to 80.
What does the course involve?
Firstly, you'll spend a short time in the classroom over several days. Through video, self-study and your instructor's lectures you will master diving theory and the fundamentals of diving practices. Your knowledge will be evaluated through short quizzes and a final exam. You will be provided with your own good quality and fully serviced equipment to use throughout the course.
You will have pool sessions and that's where the fun starts! You'll set up your own equipment and then you'll first discover the feeling of breathing underwater. In a low stress environment you'll practice the skills and techniques that you'll use in the open water.
On the final two days you will conduct your open water dives at the amazing Poor Knights Islands, two
hours north of Auckland. These offshore Islands are home to an abundance of marine life and were
famously described by Jacques Cousteau as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world!
You will complete two dives per day. The final day's diving will be to a maximum of 18 metres – subject to age. During the dives you will be able to put your newfound skills into practice. Certification will be issued upon completion of course.
What's included?
- Open water kit (which includes manual, log book, PADI decal, vinyl satcheland dive table).
- All theory sessions and all pool sessions.
- Four open water dives.
- Full equipment hire, wall certificate, certification card and PADI fees.
