Body Arts Awards a Stunning Occasion

The New Zealand Body Arts Awards were presented at the North Shore Events Centre on Saturday night before a large and enthusiastic crowd.

Local artists spent the day preparing work in a variety of themes and categories highlighting the skills which have been brought to prominence in New Zealand during production of movies like the Lord of the Rings series and King Kong.

The industry was represented by the Director or Weta Workshops Oscar Winner Richard Taylor, who led the judging panel.

The evening featured a highly colourful presentation of the body art on stage in a stunning feast of colour, movement and music.

The North Shore City Supreme Award was presented by Mayor, Andrew Williams to Carmel McCormick who represented the best of the best with her Lizard creation in an evening of stunning visual effects by local body artists.

Mr Williams praised contestants who he described as "talented and amazing people". He was accompanied by the Associate Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Judith Tizard and Mayor Bob Harvey of Waitakere City.
